We are casting a ten-minute film about a mother and her 10-year-old daughter as they deal with loss. This is a beautifully written, poignant drama with touches of humour, to be directed by Roger Nelson, who has more than 15 years of experience in the French film industry. The intention is to produce a moving film that will gather recognition in festivals around the world. The screenplay is available on request. There are two roles: —Brenda, 40s, a mother for all seasons in good times, and a little less as we meet her. She struggles to be gracious as things fall apart, keeping her focus on what’s important in life. —Pearl, 10 going on 500, her wise daughter who is rapidly losing her sight. It could be that Pearl no longer wishes to see a world where her father isn’t present. The gentle banter and flashes of humour between Brenda and Pearl lead us to a moving climax where the truth about the missing father must be expressed and denial brought to an end. Casting will take place in Sydney late September, early October. Shooting in Sydney soon after. This film is self-funded for the time being, but hope springs eternal for limited funding in the near future. Over three days of shooting, the food at least will be awesome. Have a read and you will see this is the film to be in. Please contact Roger Nelson for further information and thanks.
